Sliding Plantation Shutters
Sliding panels are commonly used as a convenient and space-efficient solution for covering doorways. They offer the advantage of easy operation and take up less room in the room compared to bi-fold shutters. However, it is uncommon to find enough space within a window opening to accommodate multiple sets of tracks necessary for sliding panels. As a result, sliding panels are generally not used for windows.
When using sliding panels, the panels overlap and slide behind each other, similar to a sliding door. It’s important to consider that when fully opened, at least half of the opening will still be covered by the panels. This factor should be taken into account if an unobstructed view is desired when the doors are open. In such cases, bi-fold shutters might be a better option as they fold against each other when opened, providing a wider opening and minimizing obstruction.
Ultimately, the choice between sliding panels and bi-fold shutters depends on personal preferences, available space, and the desired level of functionality.
BiFold Plantation Shutters
Bifold panels provide the option of folding into or out of the room, with the ability to stack to either the right or left of the opening, or even both sides. These panels come with a pelmet and bottom track to ensure smooth and unrestricted movement.
